Lives in England, works at Vision Norway

Stephen Cunningham (53) works for Vision Norway, but has an address in Newcastle. It can present challenges in these corona times. But Stephen, who has an important technical TV responsibility for Vision Norway, has found a solution.

He came to Norway for a four-week period in October 2020. He was corona-tested at Gardermoen and was told to go to his hotel room in Drammen and stay there until a new message was given. It took 18 hours. Then came the answer to the corona test. And it was negative.
But that does not mean that Stephen can only move freely in Norwegian society:
“I have to travel to work for TV Vision Norway in Mjøndalen. At the end of the working day, I go back to the hotel room, eat the hotel food and go nowhere else,” he says. This is how his work permit functioned.

“Out on a winter night”
Stephen Cunningham takes the challenge head on. This is a man who has “been out one winter night before” as it is called.
He has worked for 19 years at God TV. He has had technical responsibility for Hillsong in London, provided technical assistance in a number of places and at major productions, and thus ended up at TV Vision Norway.
“I have always worked four weeks in Norway and then traveled home to Newcastle for two weeks. In these corona times, it will be a little different, I have to be quarantined when I come home to the north of England,” says Stephen.
There is no corona check when he arrives at home funnels, but if you become ill, it is mandatory to contact the nearest test station.
It has gone well so far, even when he completed the decoration and collection of the new TV cars, also called the TV buses, in the Netherlands.

Got the cars home
“We carried out that operation during August and got all three cars home without complications,” says Stephen.
Until further notice, the experienced technical talent with the light “flip beard” will keep to his routines, work in Norway with all that entails of restrictions, and rest in Newcastle with the imposed quarantine period.
“But my wife and I want to establish ourselves in Norway. She has been here and we have looked at houses and opportunities. So once in the New Year, maybe it will work,” says always welcoming Stephen Cunningham.
